The European University of Lefke (EUL) is a non-profit university
founded in 1990 by the Cyprus Science Foundation. The EUL provides a
broad range of contemporary education and is committed to maintaining
international standards of excellence with degree programs recognized,
approved and accredited by the Higher Education Council of Turkey (YOK),
Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, Ministry of Higher Education
and Scientific Research in United Arab Emirates, Ministry of Higher
Education in the Sultanate of Oman, Higher Education Council of The
Turkish Republic of North Cyprus (YÖDAK). The worldwide recognition of
the European University of Lefke is obtained by the accreditation
Council of the Republic of Turkey (YÖK). Within this framework of YÖK
accreditation, the EUL students have transfer opportunities to other
international universities all over the world.
History
The European University of Lefke was founded by the Cyprus Science
Foundation in 1989 and opened in 1990. EUL, as a non-profit public
university has a very competitive tuition fee. Our University provides a
unique intellectual and cultural environment in the west of the Turkish
Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). It provides a broad-ranging
contemporary education and is committed to maintaining and developing
international standarts of excellence in co-operation with well-known
universities around the world.
EUL currently provides 21 undergraduate degree programmes and 9 graduate
degree programmes togetherwith 6 programmes offered by the Advanced
Vocational School. The degree programmes offered by EUL are fully
accredited Higher Education Council of Turkey and that of many other
countries. EUL is an international university with a population of
approximately 2000 students from 24 different countries, and
distinguished and experienced international academic staff. The medium
of instruction is English.
The mission of EUL is equip our students to become self-confident,
contemporary, creative, and independent . The university is committed to
encouraging individuals to realize their full potential, and training
competent professionals for a global world. Our graduates are the best
examples for professional and personal success in life and they now

The Ertuğrul Apakan LibraryT
One of the distinctive features that make the European University of
Lefke exceptional is its modern and well-equipped library. Here EUL
staff and students can develop and enhance their interests by making use
of most recent scientific books and many highly prestigious
international periodicals. Students can keep up with recent developments
in their area of interest through computerised reserch facilities and
interlibrary loan arrangements, CD-ROM and online digital libraries.
With a book capacity of 300.000 and a seating capacity of 240 places,
the Ertuğrul Apakan Library is well prepared for future extension and
keeps up with developments in science and education by continuously
upgrading its holdings of books and periodicals. Well-resourced
conference salons and seminar rooms are used for meetings and student
activities. Audio-visual facilities allow students to use video, audio
cassettes, CD, and DVD for their studies and to relax with films, music,
and news from all over the world.
The library's own computer facilities are used by students to prepare
their assignments, write their thesis and conduct their research.

INTERNET FACILITIES AND COMPUTER LABORATORIES
The European University of Lefke gives paramount importance to the
integration of appropriate information technologies in all aspects of
education and research. The university allocates an important fraction
of its resources to keep its IT infrastructure up to date.
The entire EUL campus has been wired with fibre-optics and a network
system consisting of Gigabit Network technologies, allowing students and
academic staff to access local networks and the Internet from any point
in the university.
There are four computer laboratories connected to the Internet with a
24-hour direct satellite connection to USA ISP with a high speed
bandwith of 1Mbit/512Kbit. This high speed Internet line provides
students with the opportunity to keep in touch with their families, make
new international friends and keep up with world news and developments.
The European University of lefke is continuously up-grading its computer
facilities to keep-up with rapid changes in the IT technology. Close to
completion is the computer and network up-grading of the Ertuğrul Apakan
Library. To even offer our students a better and more comfortable
service, each room in the student dormitories at the campusis currently
connected to direct satellite line.
Student also have the opportunity to use our on-campus Internet Cafe,
with minimal hourly minimal costs. The Internet Cafe is open five days a
week during regular office hours.
